Brahms Mount was founded in Hallowell in 1983 by Claudia Brahms and Noel Mount. Info about the origins, legacy, and spirit of the company can be found in this article from 2010
The company is riding a wave of increased brand recognition, a strong Made-in-America movement, and the coattails of a magnificent product!
In 2012 Brahms Mount purchased 4 additional Crompton and Knowles W3 looms to increase the collection of antique shuttle looms to 8.
Sad to say goodbye, this meant the company would 'pick up the mill' and move it 15 miles down the road to a new facility in Monmouth Maine. Of course we are excited about the move but also nostalgic for the past.
The new facility in Monmouth, given production efficiencies, should windfall into faster delivery, increased demand, and ultimately the hiring of more staff. While still maintaining the employment base in Central Maine, Brahms Mount can now shift from focusing on moving product between 6 floors in two buildings as in Hallowell, to focus on what we do best: design and create beautiful product!
